Home Gallery Letter from Winston Churchill to his wife Clementine (17 July 1915)
Shortly before heading to the Western Front, Winston Churchill, who had been forced to resign as First Lord of the Admiralty after the disastrous Gallipoli landings, wrote a letter to his wife Clementine telling her: 'You have taught me how noble a woman's heart can be.' He continued: ‘Do not grieve for me too much... death is only an incident, and not the most important...'. He went on to advise her how his assets could be used to pay off his debts.
