Dangerous dogs

In 2013, Royal Mail launched its annual Dog Awareness Week. The week, which runs in June, aims to raise understanding of the issue of dog attacks on postmen and women and secure greater protection for them as they go about their duties.

Following campaigning by Royal Mail, the Dangerous Dog Act in England and Wales was changed in May 2014 to ensure that postmen and women have legal protection over attacks by dogs when they enter private property, including a customer’s garden.
