British Forces Post Office

In 1882, a dedicated military postal unit, the Army Post Office Corps, was formed for service in the Egyptian and Sudanese campaigns. In 1908, it was subsumed into the Royal Engineers as the Royal Engineers (Postal Section) and after several more changes in the late 1990s it was re-launched as the British Forces Post Office (BFPO).

Today, the BFPO offers discounted mail delivery to troops stationed around the world. It also offers free delivery of Forces Airletters (Blueys) sent to personnel on operational duty.
