‘Your letterbox’ by Ronald Searle (1962)

Best known for his St Trinian’s series of books, Ronald Searle (1920-2011) was the son of a postal worker who repaired telephone lines. Following imprisonment as a prisoner of war in the Second World War, Searle became a well-regarded graphic artist for various advertisers, and publications, producing illustrations in pen and ink. The ‘Your Letterbox’ campaign ran between 1958 and 1966, and advised the public to have their letterboxes properly situated for maximum efficiency.
