World War 1 Postwoman’s Overcoat (c.1917)

Postwomen, who joined Royal Mail in large numbers during the First World War, first became entitled to uniform in 1915 when they received a cap, coat, skirt, boots and a cape. This ladies’ double breasted overcoat is made of dark blue serge with a high turned down collar.
