Sir Bertram Mackennal (1863-1931)

Australian sculptor, Bertram Mackennal is famous for his design work on the coinage and stamps for King George V. In 1910, he designed the Coronation Medal for King George V. A year later, he won the important commission to design the monarch's head on the new coinage. He used this design to develop for the image of the King's head on stamps. He died near Torquay in October 1931.
