Letter from Santa (1963)

In 1963, Royal Mail was appointed by Santa to reply to letters addressed to him.

Five elves were assigned to open any mail addressed to Father Christmas c/o Snowland, Toyland and Reindeerland. Santa told them to sort letters and send back responses. In the first year, they replied to over 8,000 letters. The elves did so well, in fact, that their boss - the Postmaster General, Reginald Bevins - was labelled ‘Santa Bevins’.

You can still write to Santa’s Royal Mail helpers at Santa’s Grotto, Reindeerland, XM4 5HQ. His elves continue to work hard and reply to thousands of letters every year.
