General Sir Frederic Williamson

General Sir Frederic Williamson was head of the Royal Engineers Postal Section on the Home Front during World War One. He later was the first Director of Postal Services. It was under Williamson’s chairmanship that the first two British mechanical sorting machines were installed at Brighton in 1935.
