First defence against pirates (pre-1804)

This flintlock pistol was used, along with other weapons, on packet boats to protect the mail against theft or piracy. The manufacturer, Henry Nock, was a major supplier of guns to Weymouth and Falmouth packet stations, otherwise known as ports.
