Distinguished Service Order for Capt Home Peel

Captain Home Peel of the 8th London Regiment (Post Office Rifles) was killed in action near Longueval on 24 March 1918 during the retreat from Cambrai. The 8th Battalion lost over 300 men of all ranks, killed, wounded or missing, at this last German offensive of the war. Home Peel was awarded a DSO in 1918, previously receiving a Military Cross for leading an attack on the German trenches at Festubert in 1915.
