Commonwealth postal services

After the French were defeated in the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, Britain became the principal imperial power of the 19th century.

This new power brought with it the opportunity to utilise the skills that had been used to create the British postal service abroad. Post Office employees travelled the world including future Commonwealth countries helping introduce more formalised delivery systems and playing roles in the development of many national postal services.
