Britain Alone (2010)

In a set of stamps released on 13 May 2010, entitled Britain Alone, Royal Mail paid tribute to those who stayed at home and kept the country running during the Second World War. The issue saw the Home Guard, Air Raid Wardens and the Women’s Land Army represented on British stamps for the first time, along with the many women who took on factory work during the war, and the Fire Service, who were particularly vital during the Battle of Britain.
