The first experimental mail coach journey was on 2 August 1784.This card details the Mail Coach Inns, otherwise known as stages, dotted along the London to Exeter postal route. There are 14 listed with the name of the inn, the innkeeper's name and the distance between the inns in miles. Printed by B C Collins of Salisbury.
